Summary
This work involves a geomorphological characterization of the topographic chart 23 III D, produced by IGAC, in which were developed thematic mappings and other cartographic products where the relief, both, in its morphology and its morphometric and spatial characteristics were the central theme. From the geomorphological point of view, the area in question is located on the Sinú Belt and the unconsolidated Quaternary sediments. Sinú Belt, which oldest geological formation is dated as Oligocene-Miocene, presents the highest altitudes in the mapped area reaching 146 meters in the Cerro La Popa. The lower levels of the relief in the area are the unconsolidated Quaternary deposits, which altitudes do not go over 20 meters. From mapping surveys, interpretation of orbital images, field observations and the integration of the interpretation obtained, it can be concluded that the Cenozoic tectonics is the most important setting factor in the morphological shape of the area. Keywords
