The research thesis herein brings in a critical reflection and analysis exercise around the disputing ownership of Our America’s territories, building upon a specific case in the Catatumbo Region of Colombia—the Peasant Farmer Reservation Zone that the Peasant Farmer Association of Catatumbo (Ascamcat) has been defending and claiming since 2009. From a Latin American perspective, an approach is offered to this phenomenon defined by the contributions of social and political thought from and about the region, as well as by the systemic understanding of the local experiences of popular and territorial resistance against capital and violence. Likewise, an analysis is made regarding some characteristics of the Catatumbo farm peasants which, from historical, cultural, social, economic and political spheres, allow to acknowledge them as members of the farm peasant social class in Latin America, which is evidenced by the process of alternative and counterhegemonic territorial appropriation the reservation zone in this region of the continent entails. A characterization of Catatumbo is also offered based on several aspects of the social territorial conflict so as to understand the importance of such farmer peasant territorial figure for the achievement of territorial justice and peace in the scenario of open possibilities following the signing of the peace agreement between the Government of the Republic of Colombia and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia—People's Army (FARC-EP).Keywords
