Oraciones observacionales en la filosofía de w. v. o. quine: presentación y crítica

Abstract

Este artículo tiene dos partes: en la primera se presenta la noción de "oración observacional" y el papel que cumple en la filosofía de Quine. En la segunda se hace un análisis crítico de la dicha noción, en especial de la afirmación quineana de que no están cargadas de teoría. Para esto se tienen en cuenta tres recursos: primero, la herencia de la discusión que Quine tomó del Círculo de Viena; segundo, una argumentación naturalista que apela a algunos datos procedentes de las neurociencias con respecto al procesamiento del lenguaje; y tercero, un experimento mental que tiene en cuenta la realidad virtual.

This paper is constituted by two parts: in the first one I expose the notion of ··observational sentence" and its place within the philosophy of Quine. In the second one, I begin a critical analysis concerning such notion, and particularly the statement of Quine's that observational sentences are theoretically not loaded. I will proceed baring in mind the following: first, the inheritance of the discussion that Ouine received from the Vienna Circle; second, a Naturalist approach that appeals to data provided by the neurosciences; and finally, a thought experiment concerning virtual reality.
