Yellow fever in colombia: a seminal investigation

Abstract

The findings of Finlay in Cuba and Franco in Colombia, which enabled, at the beginning of the twentieth century, the identification of the cycles of urban and sylvatic yellow fever, respectively, illustrate the importance which a careful made observation about an indigenous problem can have as a starting point for new ideas and scientific developments.

Los hallazgos de Finlay en Cuba y de Franco en Colombia, que permitieron, a comienzos del siglo XX, identificar los ciclos de la fiebre amarilla urbana y selvática respectivamente, indican la importancia que puede tener una observación cuidadosamente hecha a partir de un problema propio, como base para nuevas ideas y desarrollos científicos.
