Defensa del territorio, educación e interculturalidad

Abstract

Este artículo presenta algunas reflexiones sobre las condiciones sociales y económicas en las que el cultivo de palma aceitera afectó la región del Bajo Atrato chocoano a finales de los noventa. Se presentan, además, las acciones que realizaron empresas, comunidades y organizaciones solidarias con sus causas. Dichas manifestaciones permiten entender el papel de la organización y la educación en los procesos de defensa del territorio. Por otro lado, se examinan las diferentes tensiones, luchas, retos y contradicciones presentes en tales procesos.

The article carries out a series of reflections regarding the social and economic conditions in which the cultivation of oil palm affected the Bajo Atrato region of the Department of Chocó at the end of the nineteen nineties. It also discusses the actions carried out by communities, companies, and organizations in solidarity with the region’s cause, since these expressions make it possible to understand the role of organization and education in territorial defense processes. Finally, the article examines the different tensions, struggles, challenges, and contradictions inherent to these types of processes.
