Entre presencias y sombras: estudio sobre la meditación axiológica en la obra de Nicolás Gómez Dávila

Abstract

Resumen El presente estudio tiene como propósito estudiar la meditación axiológica en la obra de Nicolás Gómez Dávila. El objetivo aquí es rastrear las motivaciones y reflexiones, tanto implícitas como explícitas, tanto vitales como filosóficas, que llevaron a este pensador colombiano a reiterar durante toda su vida la naturaleza objetiva de los valores, así como el problema que acarrea su comunicación. Para ello se analiza entonces la influencia que tuvo su meditación axiológica sobre las distintas formas literarias que Gómez Dávila exploró: desde el hedónico apunte de lectura de Notas, pasando a la prosa poética de Textos, para finalmente consolidar su escritura en el estilo de comunicación implícita de los Escolios. Se busca dilucidar también la importancia que tuvo para el pensamiento reaccionario gomezdaviliano el poder conciliar una aprehensión sensual de los valores con una noción de los mismos comprendidos como evidencias de la trascendencia, como objetos de la experiencia religiosa; de igual forma, la importancia que tuvo conciliar su individualismo escéptico con la presencia histórica y objetiva de los valores, encarnados en la tradición cristiana en la historia. Finalmente, el estudio de lo axiológico ayuda a ilustrar la profunda influencia que para Gómez Dávila tuvo la filosofía de Nietzsche, así como los acercamientos y las diferencias que existen con las filosofías axiológicas de cuño neokantiano y fenomenológico, especialmente en la obra de Max Scheler.

Abstract: The object of this study is the axiological meditation present in the work of Nicolás Gómez Dávila. Its objective is to trace the motivations and thoughts, both implicit and explicit, vital as well as philosophical, that led this Colombian thinker to reiterate throughout his life the objective nature of value, as well as the problem that its communication entails. To do so this research analyzes the influence of Gómez Dávila’s axiological meditation across the different literary genres he explored: from the hedonic reading annotations of Notas, through to the poetic prose of Textos, to the final consolidation of his writing in the implicit communication style of the Escolios. This work aims to elucidate the importance given by Gomez Dávila and his reactionary thinking to reconciling a sensual apprehension of value with its understanding as an evidence of transcendence, i.e. as objects of the religious experience. Likewise, the importance of reconciling his skeptical individualism with the historical and objective presence of the values embodied in the Christian tradition. Finally, an examination of the axiological meditation helps to illustrate the profound influence of Nietzsche’s philosophy in Gómez Dávila’s work, as well as the existing conformities and differences of the latter with axiological philosophies coming from both the Neo-Kantian and phenomenological traditions, especially in the work of Max Scheler.
