The economic crisis and current finances have shifted focus away from important issues affecting sustainability, including the way we produce and consume food, conflicts over property, misuse of water sources, high energy consumption in the agricultural sector and various losses of food resources throughout the entire production chain, from the farmer to the consumer. These issues compound the problems of environmental sustainability of the current food system which, together with increase in demand, lead to overexploitation of natural resources by requiring expansion of the agricultural frontier. The Agronomía Colombiana journal publishes advances in knowledge generated at the technological level, for use by the scientific and academic communities and agricultural producers. To this end, the Editorial Board presents the entire contents of the journal in English and achieved its indexing in Scopus, an international reference base which expands the visibility already gained by our presence in CABI, Agris, SciELO and Publindex.
