“Colombia no sólo exporta café, también exporta putas”: Migración Internacional y Trabajo Sexual

Abstract

Escrito con herramientas teóricas y políticas provenientes de los estudios feministas y de género, el presente trabajo de investigación constituye una invitación a (re) pensar la participación de trabajadoras sexuales colombianas en los circuitos migratorios internacionales de la globalizada industria del sexo, alertando sobre el riesgo de caer en generalizaciones “victimizadoras” que suponen siempre “traficadas” y “esclavas sexuales” a las mujeres migrantes que se encuentran vinculadas a los circuitos internacionales de comercio sexual. Siendo una elaboración de tipo cualitativo, el objetivo fue comprender el fenómeno migratorio, a partir de los relatos de algunas mujeres en Bogotá que, trabajaron sexualmente antes, durante y después de la migración internacional. Con un abordaje metodológico apoyado en la teoría fundada, el análisis cuidadoso de los relatos destaca la singularidad de cada experiencia individual, revela los proyectos, sentimientos y estrategias mediante las cuales las entrevistadas construyen significados y sentidos sobre su trabajo dentro de la industria del sexo transnacional que da vida a sus procesos migratorios, a la vez que devela las oportunidades y riesgos que este conlleva, y las diversas formas en que se adaptan y resisten a la estigmatización inherente a un oficio con una enorme carga simbólica en el orden socio-racial y de género: “la prostitución”.

Written with theoretical and political tools out of feminist and gender studies, this working document is an invitation to (re) think the participation of Colombian sex workers in the international migratory circuits of the globalized sex industry. Being on guard about the risk of falling into generalizations of "victimized women," and supposing they are "trafficked" or "sex slave" when talking about migrant women found to be linked with the international circuits of the sex trade. Being a qualitative type of elaboration, the objective was to understand the migratory phenomenon from the accounts of some women in Bogota who worked before, during and after the international migration phenomenon. With a approach methodology supported in the founded theory, the mindful analysis of the accounts highlight the uniqueness of each individual experience, shows the projects, feelings and strategies by means of which the interviewees construct meaning and consciousness about their work inside the transnational sex industry which gives life to its migratory processes. At one time revealing the opportunities and risks that it entails and the diverse forms in which they adapt to and resist the inherent stigmatization of a trade with an enormous burden symbolic in the socio-racial order and of gender: prostitution.
