Credit cards, besides being used as payment method, allow the consumer to buy on credit and pay later. This last characteristic makes the credit card a dangerous instrument since it can lead to uncontrolled debt, which might negatively affect the consumer wellbeing. Therefore, it is important to study its use behaviors. The second version of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT2) was used to analyze which of the proposed constructs in this theory influence the use intention of credit cards among college students in the Universidad Nacional de Colombia Sede Bogotá. In order to do so, an online survey was applied, and 344 responses were collected. The data gathered was analyzed using partial least squares (PLS) and bootstrapping calculations. It was found that, among the studied constructs, price value and habit are the most influential factors on the use intention of credit cards among the college students at the major university in Colombia. Besides the UTAUT2 questionnaire, one additional question was added to assess for what kind of purchases the students prefer e-payments or cash. It was found that the payments in which human interaction is needed or that are frequently made, such as transport technologies or buying groceries at the store, cash is the predominant optionspa
