Gracias a los avances tecnológicos que tuvo la industria ladrillera a finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX, este material fue empleado como recurso expresivo y ornamental en las fachadas de innumerables edificaciones que aún se conservan y que poseen un gran valor patrimonial. Actualmente, el ladrillo a la vista hace parte esencial del paisaje arquitectónico de la ciudad y ha contribuido a consolidar la identidad de diversos sectores. Así pues, con este trabajo se busca contribuir a la conservación del patrimonio construido en ladrillo a la vista a través de la valoración de sus piezas ornamentales. A partir del estudio de algunos sectores característicos de la ciudad y de dos inmuebles representativos de una manera detallada, se logró identificar 12 tipos de piezas ornamentales y analizar la manera en que éstas fueron empleadas como módulo ornamental base en la configuración de diversos elementos de fachada (Texto tomado de la fuente).Brick has played a fundamental role in the constructive development of Bogotá. Thanks to the technological advances in the brick industry at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries, this material was used as an expressive and ornamental resource in the facades of countless buildings that still stand and possess great heritage value. Currently, brick is an essential part of the city's architectural landscape and has contributed to consolidating the identity of various sectors. Therefore, this work seeks to contribute to the knowledge and conservation of decorative brick pieces, as well as the built heritage that incorporates them into their facades.
