El libro ofrece también una base de referencia para estudios en el área de la biodiversidad de los humedales y sabanas de Arauca, de sus principales componentes y de sus posibles desarrollos y aplicaciones. Finalmente, se espera que la presente contribución aumenté los niveles de conocimientos de la región en la población, haciendo de las ciencias básicas un herramienta para el análisis de la realidad ambiental actual. De esta manera, se contribuirá en la conservación de este importante sector de los llanos colombianos, región cuyos ecosistemas ha sido drásticamente transformados en los últimos 60 años.
