La propuesta de un tercer espacio es una ampliación del planteamiento de Karen Cardozo en “Mediating the Particular and the General: Ethnicity and Intertextuality in Jhumpa Lahiri’s Oeuvre” (2012). El trabajo consta de tres momentos: primero, la identificación del interés de Lahiri por la interpretación, el translingüismo y la intertextualidad en su obra escrita en inglés (semillas y preparación del suelo); segundo, el análisis de Dove mi trovo, su primera novela escrita en italiano, a fin de identificar cómo se transforma su narrativa luego de su proceso translingüe (la apertura del tercer espacio) y finalmente, el análisis sobre cómo la traducción y la autotraducción hacen de Lahiri un ser híbrido (la consolidación del tercer espacio). Esta reflexión se inscribe dentro de los estudios del translingüismo literario propuestos por Steven G. Kellman y es un paso hacia la desnaturalización del paradigma monolingüe en el cual una lengua/patria es la única fuente de identidad de un escritor. (Texto tomado de la fuente)This research explores the work of Jhumpa Lahiri and proposes the creation of a third space from which her literary project can be understood beyond the labels "writer from the Hindu diaspora" or "universal writer" and where it is possible to see the connections between her writing in English and Italian. The proposal for a third space is an extension of Karen Cardozo's approach in "Mediating the Particular and the General: Ethnicity and Intertextuality in Jhumpa Lahiri's Oeuvre" (2012). The work consists of three moments: first, the identification of Lahiri's interest in interpretation, translingualism and intertextuality in her work written in English (seeds and soil preparation); second, the analysis of Dove mi trovo, her first novel written in Italian, in order to identify how her narrative is transformed after her translingual process (the opening of the third space) and finally, the analysis of how translation and self-translation turn Lahiri into a hybrid individual (the consolidation of the third space). This reflection is part of the studies on literary translingualism proposed by Steven G.
