El presente trabajo final presenta los hallazgos de un estudio en el área del bilingüismo y las lenguas en contacto cuyo objetivo era caracterizar la relación entre las actitudes lingüísticas e identitarias de un grupo de hablantes de inglés criollo, ingles estándar y español. La metodología utilizada se basa en el estudio de caso y la historia de vida. A través de la técnica de la entrevista se recolectaron 8 historias de vida que fueron analizadas a profundidad con ayuda del programa Atlasti. Los resultados muestran que los informantes tienen actitudes ambiguas frente a la lengua criolla y positivas hacia el inglés y el español. Dichas actitudes se deben a factores sociales como la educación, la familia y los medios de comunicación. Además, elementos como la convergencia y divergencia lingüística, la relación entre lengua e identidad personal, la identidad étnica, nacional y global son discutidos. Se espera que este trabajo contribuya al campo de las lenguas en contacto y la criollística en particular, pues el estudio de las actitudes lingüísticas y la identidad es fundamental para el mantenimiento y vitalidad de las lenguas minoritarias.Resumen
Abstract. This final project presents the findings of a study in the area of Bilingualism and Languages in Contact. The objective of the study was to characterise the relationship between the linguistic attitudes and the linguistic identities of a group of Creole English, Standard English and Spanish speakers. The methodology used was based on case study and life story. Through the technique of interviews, eight (8) life stories were collected and analyzed in depth using Atlasti Software. The results show that the informants have ambiguous attitudes towards the Creole Language and positive attitudes towards English and Spanish. The said attitudes are due to a combination of social factors, such as education, family life and media. Besides, elements such as linguistic convergence and divergence, the relationship between language and personal identity, ethnic, national and global identity are discussed. It is hoped that this article will contribute to the field of Languages in Contact and Creolistics, in particular through the study of language attitudes, fundamental for the maintenance and vitality of minority languages.Palabras clave
