Abstract. This thesis contributed to the design, synthesis and characterization of layered structures: Co-Cu-Mg-Al hydrotalcites and clay minerals as precursors for the production of catalysts promoted with Ce and Pr for the VOCs total oxidation. In this work we checked the cooperative effect between metals, where equimolar ratios of Co and Cu allow to obtain more stable and active materials in the oxidation of three types of VOCs and the presence of Ce and Pr increases the reducibility and desorb oxygen in the materials. Additionally, we evaluated the effect of ultrasound as a method of aging, to obtain more dispersed materials, active and selective in the oxidation of VOCs. The characterization of the two lamellar systems and catalytic behavior in the transformation of VOCs to CO2 and H2O, allowed to establish correlations between the two types of layered structures, showing that such systems are potential alternatives for efficient and competitive catalysts in the oxidation of VOCs.Palabras clave
