dc.description.abstract | To teach and to learn mathematics are not always conjugated concomitantly, particularly in the context of formal indigenous schools. This article puts in discussion some facts about the role of schools in indigenous communities, often mistakenly called Indian schools, as well as questions about the meaning of teaching mathematics in those contexts. Based on the concepts of ethnomathematics, it shows that a dialogue is possible between the traditional mathematical knowledge of various ethnic groups of the Amazon and the knowledge disseminated by formal school teaching practice. |
dc.description.abstract | Ensinar e aprender matemática são verbos que nem sempre são conjugados concomitantemente, em especial, quando se trata de contextos escolares formais indígenas. Este artigo traz à luz da discussão fatos que contribuem com a reflexão a cerca da função da escola em comunidades indígenas, muitas vezes, equivocadamente denominadas escolas indígenas, assim como questiona o significado que adquire o ensino de matemática nesse contexto. Divergências a parte, baseado nas concepções etnomatemáticas mostra que é possível um diálogo entre os saberes matemáticos tradicionais das diversas etnias da Amazônia e o conhecimento formal difundido pela prática pedagógica escolar. |
