Implicaciones sismotectónicas de las soluciones mecanismo focal de algunos terremotos de la región central de colombia

Abstract

Se han analizado las soluciones del mecanismo focal de veinte terremotos ocurridos a diferentes profundidades y ambientes tectónicos para establecer el marco sismotectónico de la región central del territorio colombiano. Los sismos intermedios ocurridos en la parte occidental de la región, en su mayoría responden a fuerza de tracción y corresponden a la subducción del material litosférico de la placa oceánica bajo la placa continental, mientras que los eventos superficiales que tienen lugar en el continente en su mayoría son de tipo compresivo y están relacionados con la actividad de las diferentes fallas que atraviesan la región. Esta actividad es derivada de la colisión de la placa Nazca con el Bloque Andino. En el sistema de fallas del borde llanero se nota la continuación de los esfuerzos tectónicos desde la base de la corteza hasta la superficie terrestre. En general, el régimen geodinámica de la esquina noroccidental del continente suramericano esta gobernado por la interacción de tres grandes placas, que a su vez causan la deformaci6n y el desplazamiento del Bloque Andino en dirección NNE.

Focal mechanism solutions of twenty recent earthquakes ocurred at different depthes and tectonics environment have been analysed toestablish the seismotectonic framework of the central region of Colombian territory. The intermediate earthquakes in the western part of theregion, in the majority respond to traction force and correspond to the subduction phenomenon of the oceanic lithospheric material beneathcontinental plate. While the superficial events ocurred at the continent crustal in the majority being of compressional type are related with the activity of different faults that cross the region. This activity is derived from the collision of the Nazca plate with the Andean Block. On the East Andean frontal fault system is noted a continuation of the tectonic stresses at the interior of the crustal to the earth's surface. In general, the geodymanic regimen of the nothwestern corner of the South American continent is governed by the collision of three major tectonic plates, that cause the deformation and displacement of the Andean Block in NNE direction.
