Summary
Abstract: The so-called Darcy's law is a generalization lucky on the conditions of water flow in sand that has been extrapolated to materials and conditions that do not necessarily follow from its original formulation. The objective of this research is the identification of the conditions under which it Darcy's law is valid and the experimental verification of the conditions in which no flow occurs. The research results show that the law is not applicable to cohesive soils; that in granular materials with a diameter greater than that of the sands, the proportionality of the discharge velocity and the hydraulic gradient occurs even at relatively very high speed whose occurrence in natural conditions is unlikely; and that there is a given combination of length of the permeable medium, external head and permeability of the material required to initiate the flow of water through it.Keywords
