Abstract. Positron emission tomography (PET) is a nuclear medicine noninvasive technique that allows obtain images with molecular and pathophysiological information through radioactive tracers that are metabolically captured and delivered to the patient during the course of the study. In this work seek to analyze and quantify PET images from compartmental models as a tool for further diagnostic information in studies of nuclear cardiology. Quantitative analysis of the myocardial viability studies with 18-FDG and myocardial perfusion with 13-NH3 in two different groups of patients was achieved through the development and optimization of image acquisition protocols, after a detailed study of the variables affecting acquisition protocols of this imaging techniques. To finally conclude that the quantification of PET images and particularly in nuclear cardiology allow obtaining less subjective diagnosis and improved specificity, sensitivity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value compared with others imaginological technique in nuclear medicine.Palabras clave
