Abstract For the last years, there have been made many important develops in the metallurgic area, results show a tendency to replace common metallic materials for high toughest materials, with less manufacturing processes for their obtaining, and cheaper than conventional steels used in a high volume industrial application; This is the case of the bainitic steels, investigators change chemical composition of bainitic steels and characterize different mechanical properties, analyzing if different chemical composition changes mechanical properties, making bainitic steels useful for technologic develop in different industries. In this work investigator was based in a chemical composition used by other investigators to obtain bainitic steels, but he changed parts per million of Boron, to analyze if those changes generates any difference in fracture toughness; after that he postulate a theoretical behavior of toughness in bainitic steels, dependent of parts per million of Boron in chemical composition of bainitic steels. This thesis shows how the investigator obtain the alloy defining parameters of the chemical composition, after that he makes the steels thermomechanical treatment to change the steels principal microstructure to bainite, characterized by SEM (scanning electron microscope) micrographs. According to ASTM 1820-11 [47] J-Integral test where made in the bainitic steels to obtain their toughness, describing how it changes with parts per million of boron in their chemical composition. Simultaneously, crack propagation where studied and again micrographs were taken by scanning electron microscope (SEM) to get the characterization of the fracture mechanisms of those materials and parameters to identify their fatigue behavior.Palabras clave
