La novela transgresora: el caso Flor del fango e Ibis

Abstract

La constitución política de 1886 fue la normalización del proyecto regeneracionista en Colombia. En aquel fin de siglo el discurso político e ideológico se gestó en la prensa, tanto oficialista como opositora, aunque también en el campo literario. El canon literario esgrimido por el statu quo operante, se estipuló con el fin de apoyar, desde la literatura, los objetivos del proyecto de nación, siempre y cuando dicha literatura estuviera acorde con aquellos principios políticos que proclamaron al catolicismo como la religión oficial. Sin embargo, fue desde el mismo discurso literario que el exiliado José María Vargas Vila decidió combatir dicho pensamiento, transgrediendo, a través de los discursos y actuaciones de sus personajes, el discurso del imaginario conservador oficialista. Flor del fango e Ibis son ejemplos significativos de cómo la novela y su discurso enarbolan a la transgresión como “arma de combate” contra el discurso ideológico, político, moral y religioso que el statu quo pretendía imponer en el imaginario social de la época.

Abstract. The 1886 political constitution was the foundation of the regeneration proyect in Colombia. By that time the political and ideological speech was promoted from the media, the news (the official and the opposer), nevertheless it was also promoted by literature. The literary field assumed by the reigning statu quo was established in order to support, from literature, the aim of the nation proyect. But that had to be done as long as it agreed with the politic principles that made Catholicism as the ruling religion. Nevertheless José María Vargas Vila decided to fight that thougth from literature, transgressing from the speeches and performances of his characters the imaginary conservative speech. Flor del fango and Ibis are significative examples of how novel and its speech represent transgression as a combat weapon against the ideological, political, moral and religious speech that statu quo wanted to impose at that time.
