Acercamiento histórico a los universitarios de Colombia 1908 - 1954

Abstract

La investigación tiene como propósito pensar la constitución de los universitarios colombianos como actores sociales en el periodo 1908 –1954, visible en escenarios como la educación, la política y la cultura. En tal sentido, el interés apunta a identificar y valorar la experiencia es tudiantil que concibieron los universitarios , indagando de qué materiales ideológicos y prácticos estuvo constituida dicha experiencia. Para ello dedicamos la atención a los discursos y dinámicas organizativas (congresos, federaciones programas) que emprendieron y formularon los universitarios en ar as de lograr la modernización de la educación en Colombia, destacando su articulación a procesos similares adelantados por estudiantes en otros países del continente. Asimismo, analizamos las prácticas simbólicas (Fiesta del Estudiante, himnos y canciones, Maestro de la Juventud) que fueron concebidas por los estudiantes , resaltando su ligazón con las circunstancias sociales del país y el ambiente emocional de la comunidad estudiantil. Por último, nos detenemos en el análisis de la protesta estudiantil, int eresados en conocer los motivos que condujeron a los universitarios a promover formas de movilización y reclamo para visibilizar sus demandas en distintos momentos del per í odo. Debe anotarse, finalmente, que l a investigación pretende aportar conocimiento para fortalecer lecturas que ofrezcan miradas de conjunto sobre la constitución de los universitarios colombianos como actores sociales en la primera mitad del siglo XX.

Abstract: The research aims to think about the constitution of Colombian university students as social actors, in the period 1908 - 1954. The importance of students in Colombian society of the first half of the 20th century is recognized, visible in scenarios such a s education, politics and culture. In this sense, the interest aims to identify and assess the student experience that emerged in the referred period, inquiring of what ideological and practical materials that experience was constituted. To this end, we de vote attention to reconstructing the discourses and organizational dynamics (congresses, federations programs) that university students undertook and formula ted in order to achieve the modernization of education in the country, highlighting their articula tion with similar processes advanced by students in other countries of the region. continent. Likewise, we analyze the symbolic practices (Student's Party, hymns and songs, Youth Teacher) that were conceived, highlighting their connection with the social c ircumstances of the country and the emotional environment of the student community. Finally, we stop at the analysis of the student protest, interested in knowing the reasons that led the university students to promote social protest as a repertoire of con frontation, to make their demands visible at different times of the observed period. It should be noted, finally, that this research wants to contribute knowledge of a topic that is lacking, to this day, of readings that offer collective views on the const itution of Colombian university students as social actors in the first half of the 20th century.
