Viaje, pérdida y memoria en Paraíso Travel: por las rutas de la literatura y el cine colombiano

Abstract

La reescritura al cine de diferentes literaturas, especialmente de la novela, ha sido una constante en la historia de la cinematografía. Esta práctica concurrente lleva a insistir en el examen de la convergencia intertextual entre el cine y la literatura, tomando en este caso como objeto de análisis Paraíso travel, novela escrita por Jorge Franco y adaptación dirigida por Simón Brand. Para ello, en primera medida se reconstruye el recorrido histórico del cine, la literatura y la crítica colombiana a modo de establecer las conveniencias conceptuales respecto a sus maneras de creación y representación; seguidamente se realiza un abordaje crítico desde la estética y su relación con teorías del cine, la literatura y la lingüística, campos disciplinares de gran consideración para la argumentación teórica. Así mismo, la investigación se centra en la variable cinematográfica de la adaptación y la problemática que ésta enfrenta, teniendo en cuenta los procesos artísticos y extraartísticos de la producción, enfocados en la novela de Franco y la correspondiente adaptación de Simón Brand; lo cual permite entrever la huella que la misma produce en el plano cultural reflejando complejas contradicciones y dinámicas sociales para cuyo abordaje se seleccionan la metáfora del Viaje, la Pérdida y la Memoria en atención a que han permeado el contenido de las distintivas prácticas artísticas objetos de éste estudio. La selección de las obras anteriores y el desafío de estudiar una producción audiovisual parangonada con la literatura, tiene el interés de servir como herramienta pedagógica e incentivar la lectura activa, y así mismo generar interés por construir una visión artística y cultural integradora e interdisciplinar. The re-writing of the cinema has different literatures, especially from the novel, where it has been a constant signal in the history of the cinema. This common practice insists in the examination of the intertextual convergence between the cinema and the literature, taking in this case as object of analysis Paraiso Travel, a novel written by Jorge Franco, adapted and directed by Simon Brand. To accomplish this, first of all it is necessary to rebuild the historic passage of the cinema, the literature and the Colombian critic as a manner to establish the conventional concepts in the different ways of creation and representation; secondly it is done a critic boarding from the esthetics and its relation with theories from the cinema, the literature and the linguistics, disciplinary fields well considered to the theoretical argumentation. All in all, this investigation centers on the variability of the adaptation in the cinema, and the problematic that it has to face, taking into account the artistic processes and extra-artistic from production, focused on Franco´s novel and Simon Brand´s adaptation. This work lets us see the mark produced by the cultural influence, reflecting complex contradictions and social dynamics whose analysis in done by metaphors such as the Trip, the Loss and the Memory. This study let us see the content of different artistic practices that surround the works selected and defy the study of an audiovisual production in comparison to a literature novel. This study and analysis can be used as a pedagogic tool to encourage the active reading, generating interest to build up an artistic vision and an interdisciplinary cultural integration.
