El retorno de Veblen en el contexto de las nuevas instituciones

Abstract

Los avances que presenta el neoinstitucionalismo en el estudio de las instituciones tienen su punto de mayor lucidez en Douglass North y su libro Instituciones, cambio institucional y desarrollo económico (1990). Aun así, el olvido de la academia de las posturas de Tholstein Veblen, considerado el fundador de la escuela institucionalista americana, ha perjudicado el estudio de la relación entre las instituciones ceremoniales y tecnológicas en el cambio institucional. Esta relación considera como un vector importante la eficiencia de dichas instituciones y los problemas crecientes cuando estas sean formales o informales. Es necesario asumir el cambio institucional considerando los factores previamente analizados y la forma en que se desenvuelven. También el estudio de la innovación y la relación de las tecnologías con las nuevas formas de conducta en las diferentes sociedades son un importante análisis en este trabajo.

//Abstract: The advances that neo-institutionalism presents in the study of institutions have their point of greatest lucidity in Douglas North and his book Institutions, institutional change and economic development (1990). Even so, the forgetting of the academy of the positions of Tholstein Veblen, considered the founder of the American institutionalist school, has damaged the study of the relationship between ceremonial and technological institutions in the institutional change. This relationship considers as an important vector the efficiency of these institutions and the growing problems when these are formal or informal. It is necessary to assume the institutional change considering the previously analyzed factors and the way in which they are developed. Also the study of innovation and the relationship of technologies with new forms of behavior in different societies are an important analysis in this work.
