Summary
//Abstract: Heat stress consist in the increment of the temperature over a prolonged period which commonly could cause irreversible damage to the metabolism and development of plants. In the common bean the adaptation capacity ranges are in intermediate altitudes with moderate temperatures, as result of the climate change these ranges have been affected, generating heat stress problems on the plants and consequently causing large losses in yield. In order to identify quantitative loci (QTL) characters capable to control morphoagronomic characteristics which confer tolerance to this stress, a phenotypic and genotypic evaluation was performed on a population of 107 recombinant inbred lines descended from the Andean genotypes IJR x AFR 298, from the bean breeding program of the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT). The phenotyping was done under field conditions in the stages of flowering and harvest, evaluating a total of 16 variables. Genotyping was performed with a basic set of 6000 SNPs with BARCBean6K_3 BeadChip. Statistical differences were found for the evaluations between sowings under stress and non-stress. The pollen viability, the dehiscence of anthers, the filling and weight of grains and pods, the number of grains per plant and pod, and the mobility of the biomass of the pod to the formation of the grain were affected negatively by the heat, which caused a significant reduction in the yield in susceptible lines. 19 QTLs were identified associated with 9 variables assessed, which showed significant correlations with performance under stress conditions. After an exhaustive validation process, the results obtained in this research could be incorporated into breeding program using molecular marker-assisted selection techniques, interested in developing heat-tolerant genotypes that may face the future impacts of global warming. Keywords
