dc.description.abstract | //Abstract: The nutrients are important to achieve a good production in cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.), however, the excessive use of fertilizers affects the environment and the profitability of the crop. This research aimed to determine the efficient use of nutrients (EUN) for nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) in four clones of fine cocoa of flavor and aroma of economic importance in Ecuador (EET-576, EET -575, EET-103, and CCN-51). An experimental design of divided plots was used, with four treatments and four repetitions. The treatments consisted of applications of different doses of N-P-K (kg ha-1): TR (control), T1 (N59-P29-K118), T2 (N74-P37-K148) and T3 (N88-P44-K176). The results show highly significant differences for the agronomic (EA) and recovery (ER) efficiency of N-P-K due to clone effect and treatment; the highest efficiencies were presented for clone CCN-51 in T2, coinciding in the treatment for the remaining clones, except in EET-103 (T1); the lowest efficiencies were obtained in T3 in the four clones. The highest yields were presented in the clone CCN- 51, second the EET-576, third the EET-575 in the T2, and finally the EET-103 in T1. On the other hand, significant differences were also obtained in the concentration of nutrients at leaf level by clone effect, treatment and clone interaction by treatment. All the clones showed preference in the absorption of major elements, by N, K+, Ca2+ and Mg2+; in different order of affinity P, S, and in minor elements, by Na+, Fe2+, Mn2+, Zn2+, B, Cu2+ with the exception of clone EET-575 that was different. Of the 132 relationships between nutrients studied at leaf level, it was found that those that most relate positively to yield are: N/P, P/Zn, S/N and Ca/P. |
