Abstract. The cost of labor is the main difference. And it must be remarked that in Colombia, it represents 25% of the total cost for the growth stage and 30% of the extraction phase (Duarte and Gotterman, 2008 cited by Mosquera and Fontanilla, 2008). Additionally we must take into consideration the fact that 59% of the cost of labor is spent in the harvest, this implies that we must make all efforts so that every peso invested in this activity is utilized in the best possible manner. It requerid a study of the different alternatives that allowed for the improvement of yield and cost reduction in the production of palm oil (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) in Montecarmelo Palm, in order to be competitive national at international level. In this particular case we compared trailer dump truck (Montecarmelo models), rigid trailers (traditional dumping) and transport on trucks or dump–trucks (between 11-13 ton size), through work. measurement tools such as time and movement. The objective of the movement surveys was to find the best work method, concomitant with available resources for the performance of a productive activity, the transportation of fruit in this case. The results obtained showed that for our environment, the trailer dump trucks (auto-volco) is the most economic means yet, in the summer time the loading can be done with trucks in view of their efficiency. |
