dc.description.abstract | The structural interpretation of the subsurface in the study area has been directed towards thrusting with root in the basement and duplex structural traps, from the conception of different geological models were found structural styles that differ from those initially proposed. The study area is located in the Ataco syncline, Upper Magdalena Valley Basin, 13 kilometers southeast of the Chaparral town. Information from 11 wells and reprocessed 3D seismic was used. The lithology interpreted on seismic was divided into three units with different mechanical behavior’s pre-discordance and one-unit post-discordance. deepest unit is related to the basement, has a brittle behavior and is characterized mainly by high angle inverse faults that have been inherited from normal faulting (Jurassic); the middle unit has a ductile performance, shows accommodation to the strain, dispersion of high angle faulting, creation of zones of greater or lesser thickness and serves as detachment surfaces on low-angle faulting; finally the upper unit, which has a competent lithology and is affected by the ductility of the underlying unit and its thrust faulting. The following Cenozoic sequence accommodates the underlying deformation, observing growth strata. Two main faults (Amoyá and La Pava) with NS direction were interpreted separating blocks in the subsurface, four depositional units that behave mechanically different from the stresses, and two structural styles that participate in the deformation of the subsurface. Associated to the reverse faulting two faults were found with strike-slip movement, which cut the three units in an oblique angle (N45E) to the Amoyá fault, generating positive flower structures, which creates repetitions in the first and second unit. Kinematic analysis points that compression predominates. The geological evolution of the zone indicates the tilting of the Paleogene sequence, folding and beginning of erosion, while the Falla Amoyá begins its ascent with the influence of strike-slip components (early Eocene). Meanwhile, the sedimentation of the Gualanday Group deposits continues. Which will be affected by the ascent of La Pava fault (Late Oligocene), accumulating sediments from the Neogene to the present and exposing rocks of Jurassic age on the eastern flank of the study area, which ultimately creates the Ataco Syncline. |
