dc.description.abstract | This project focuses on the description of the variations in anthropometric measurements in neonates hospitalized in intensive and intermediate neonatal units according to the type of enteral feeding received. It corresponds to a descriptive case series type study, with prospective data collection, without interfering with the usual management at the unit. The project is developed in a neonatal tertiary care unit of the Bogotá public hospital network, which has a Human Milk Bank. Data collection is carried out over two calendar months according to the inclusion criteria mentioned in this protocol. The description of the anthropometric variables of these patients and their relationship with the type of enteral feeding received is made, finding in the study population that feeding with predominant human milk can give equal or better results in anthropometric variables compared with the predominant feeding with milk formulas, and with similar results to other reports described in the literature. This could justify the preference for human milk in neonatal units, and encourage the use of donor human milk from HMB when the mother's own milk is not available. |
