dc.description.abstract | This study analyzes the challenges of the social entrepreneur in the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the city of Manizales, a purpose that emerges from the limited development of social entrepreneurship in that city, despite the fact that in Colombia it is perceived as having a solid entrepreneurial ecosystem. The study starts from an approach to the literature to establish the concept of social entrepreneurship, so that, when analyzing the social entrepreneurship of Manizales, its challenges and particularities can be characterized. The study was carried out through a descriptive research scope and a qualitative approach using questionnaires administered to the main actors of the Entrepreneurship Ecosystem of Manizales (EEM) and to the social entrepreneurs. Based on the data collected, a configuration of this ecosystem was proposed; three cases were profiled as social enterprises; different aspects that characterize the relationship between social entrepreneurs and the EEM were identified; and finally, the challenges faced by social entrepreneurs within the EEM were identified. The main finding of this study is that social entrepreneurship does not have an important development in Manizales. In contrast, the EEM is visible, recognized, and its actors are active in favor of entrepreneurship, but the relationship of the EEM with social entrepreneurs is weak and rare. Furthermore, there is no evidence of EEM strategies in favor of social entrepreneurship. Finally, this study offers recommendations to strengthen social entrepreneurship in the city of Manizales based on the intervention of the EEM. |
