dc.description.abstract | Osteopathy is a wing of alternative medicine and complementary, that has had the biggest rise in recent years due to increased patient demand. It was originated in the 19th century in the United States and it seeks to restore the structure, function and mobility in each altered body system, thereby avoiding pathology (1). On the other hand, there are several authors in osteopathy, who have focused on the study of emotions and their release. Mainly, Dr. John E. Upledger, who coined the name of Somatoemotional release. It has been observed that emotional or physical traumas generate an excess of disorganized energy, especially they are located in the fascia, which produce "energy cysts", those are hidden by the patient, generating somatic discomfort. Therefore, what the osteopath does is to palpate and identify these cysts, through different maneuvers described, produce the release of emotions and even the re-experiencing of emotions and the improvement of symptoms. Objective: Characterizing emotional release in osteopathy and osteopathic techniques described for emotional release through documentary review. Method: A documentary review of osteopathy, emotional release and osteopathic techniques described was performed. Furthermore, references were selected according to the inclusion-exclusion criteria. In addition, each technique was identified and described in detail. Result: The information that was found about somatoemotional release is mostly in books. As well as, the main knowledge about techniques for emotional liberation has been developed in Europe and America, specifically by authors such as Dr. Francisco Fajardo, Dr. Jhon Upledger, Dr. Torstem Liem and Dr. Jean-Pierre Barral and are consigned in their textbooks. Conclusions: In the first place, the information obtained about emotional release is found in books by European and North American authors. In second place, there are few studies or articles indexed in journals that talk about this topic and specifically about the techniques for emotional release; most of techniques are craniosacral and visceral. Finally, It is recommended to reinforce the study of this topic, which is fundamental for the well-being and improvement of patients. |
