Gait Patterns and their Relationship to Basic Mobility in Children with Charcot-Marie-Tooth Charcot Marie Tooth disease (CMT) is also known as hereditary motor sensory neuropathy and is the most prevalent neuromuscular disease in children. CMT is equivalent to 30% of pediatric neuromuscular diseases.(1, 2) Walking is an important activity for the interrelation of people with which basic needs can be met independently. When gait loss occurs, limitations are generated in the activities of daily living and the quality of life of patients is impacted. Objectives: This study aims to describe the gait patterns in patients under 18 years of age with CMT and to determine their relationship with capacity and performance measures. Methodology: Retrospective descriptive study, in patients under 18 years of age diagnosed with CMT, with computerized gait analysis between August 2014 and July 2022, without previous surgeries, with temporal-spatial parameters of the left lower limb, with capacity and performance measures. such as the 6-minute walk test and PODCI, carried out at the Roosevelt Institute Results: In the population of 25 patients that were analyzed, the 3 gait patterns described in the literature were evident and when analyzing the correlation of the temporospatial parameters with the PODCI scale, it was evident that the gait speed, the length of the stride and the the percentage of monopodal support are affected to different degrees and correlate with the PODCI results. Conclusions: Computerized gait analysis provides us with reliable data for the classification of gait patterns in patients with CMT and this can help in clinical decision-making and in monitoring the functional status of the patient. Using objective and sensitive measures of gait help us understand the progression of the disease and can serve as outcome measures in current and future therapeutic interventions to improve gait. The analysis of temporospatial parameters to classify gait patterns in patients with CMT with functional and performance tests allows us to have a global understanding and take the appropriate measures to maintain an adequate quality of life in favor of adequate activity and participation. Keywords: Charcot Marie tooth, gait, 6 minute walk test.
