This research pretended, besides to find intertextual and intermedial relationships between Painting and Latin American Narrative, to establish the way these relationships helped the author of La Muerte de Artemio Cruz to create his critical discourse about the Mexican Revo-lution. It was required to analyze the temporal construction technique in the narrative of the novel since it promotes the expression of multiple perspectives about a subject. The first chapter deals with the way in which Carlos Fuentes established a dialogue between his novel and Cubist painting, with painters such as Piero Della Francesca and Diego Velázquez espe-cially, in order to open a critical reading of that part of the Mexican history but, not only to involve the reader on the narrative construction; also to bring together multiple points of view about the matter. The result left the perception that the author tries and gets to demystify some old and glorified ideological presumptions that, about the revolution, some art schools in Mexico such as The Muralism have promoted. On the second chapter of this document, it became evident the fact that the painting technique of the mirror helped the author to create a temporal proposal which pretends to generate in the reader the sensation of being in multiple locations and times. Thus, it was possible to evidence the temporal and critical perspective that Fuentes had about the official history which is commonly seen like a lineal process that annuls the past in order to only look forward to progress. Keywords
