In this framework, conflicts are observed that lead to questions about mechanisms to understand and adapt. Thus, the approach of Fisher and Rucki (2017) acquires relevance: economic development, ecosystem functioning, peace, and conflict management are necessary components of sustainability, but how they work is deeply unknown. Therefore, this research aims to analyze behaviors that promote peace within the framework of the complex economy based on the dynamics between the economic, environmental, and social systems. To accomplish this, first, a theoretical framework is deepened, which covers the three mentioned systems and inquiries about the emergence of peace in a self-organized and adaptive system, typical of complex systems. Cooperation is identified as an element that connects the subsystems with peace. Second, a simulation model is built from the agent-based models to recognize emergencies that contribute to understanding the dynamics that impact peace. As findings, it is identified that implementing intergroup selection mechanisms can favor the emergence of stable peace. In scenarios in which there is a perceived scarcity of resources, the noncooperative strategy is the one that generates the least benefits.
