The agro-industrial sector is no stranger to this situation. In response, the Circular Economy (CE) has gained attention in the scientific, political and business spheres for its “take-make-reuse” model. However, it is not clear how companies can move towards Circular Business Models (MNC) specifically in the agro-industrial sector. For this reason, the objective of this research is to analyze waste and by-product recovery strategies in the context of circular business models in agribusiness for emerging countries such as Colombia. A multiple case study was applied in three companies that value coconut shell, whey, and agro-industrial residues, respectively. The results of the qualitative data content analysis suggest elements of the circular business model to value waste. As for key activities, there is R+D+I of products and processes, development of machinery and commercial management. As for key partners, there are business accelerators, suppliers and agricultural producers. And with respect to the key resources are those related to the physical, economic and human mainly. As a contribution to knowledge of management science, a conceptual model is established to guide the process for companies in the sector to incorporate circular economy strategies into their business models.
