This project presents the development of short-circuit current modeling based on the different methods that exist for the resolution of faults in the different components that make up the electrical distribution networks. The short-circuit current calculation is developed using the methods adopted by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). With the calculation of the short-circuit current, the characteristics of the protection systems are established, the technical specifications of each of the components of the circuit that was chosen for testing and thus verify the failures that occur in the system by short circuit, based on a circuit of the IEEE. Likewise, when performing the different short-circuit tests in the selected single-line diagram (IEEE Std 3002.3TM-2018 System), the necessary measures are established to avoid both thermal and mechanical damages in the network components; taking into account the different scenarios to look for the different signals according to their configuration and the different values of power, current, voltage, resistance, etc. From the parameters of the components of the systems, the modeling will be performed in ETAP software for the industrial circuit of the IEEE Std 3002.3TM-2018 Standard and a system of water injection pumps for an oil well, which will deliver the results obtained by simulating the circuits and the characterization of the different faults found in the circuits. Keywords
