This study acknowledges the existing tensions among subjects who have historically been recognized through the lens of ableist and patriarchal oppression. It aims to understand the reasons behind the resistance of both caregivers and care recipients, the conditions that sustain these resistances, and the situations that intensify them. To achieve this, the study analyzes the tensions embedded in the shared narratives of subjects who have embodied collective action within the realm of caregiving and who have generated resistance in terms of political representation. In other words, this research project seeks to recognize and amplify the voices of those who have historically been silenced. Drawing on the theoretical framework developed by Hanna Pitkin, the study adopts a theoretical perspective that distinguishes between descriptive and substantive representation in the context of political representation. Descriptive representation prioritizes representing individuals who share a common struggle, such as people with disabilities, while substantive representation focuses on caregivers and the interests at stake under their representation, be they political, economic, or social. The methodology employed is qualitative, grounded in a conceptual framework that encompasses ideas, concepts, and representations of the researched reality. The participants are a group of individuals with associative ties, although their identities are kept anonymous to preserve their privacy. Data collection is conducted through semi-structured interviews, allowing for the capturing of voices and tensions within caregiving relationships in the context of disability. The results of this study contribute to the empirical understanding of the realities of individuals who resist perpetuating normative cultural patterns. Additionally, it facilitates the development of insights that can foster new practices and discourses regarding the delegitimization of socially attributed roles.Palabras clave
