The indigenous community of Portachuelo located in the Northwest of the Department of Caldas is in the middle of a diverse and complex area, inhabited by various cultural groups and in constant territorial dispute. The objective of this research is to understand how a cultural landscape is constituted amid these overlapping territories. The landscape is understood here as a spatial unit socially produced by a network of multi-scale relationships that can be read from its elements and interactions (habitat); and from there, the conceptual device House-Inhabitant-Artifact is built to refine the gaze on the house that is the epicenter and daily container of habits, ways and routines that are the same things that make life possible and create the landscape. Methodologically, this research proposes the constitution of the landscape as a horizontal dialogue between inhabitants and researcher, as the drawing of relationships to which value and vitality are given from the domestic/community perspective; and concludes that the system of relationships narrated with its nodes, actions, artifacts and meanings, end up constituting a cultural landscape of Portachuelo, constantly disputed against external pressures, which is defended by its inhabitants enunciating and reproducing itself in daily life. Thus, this research seeks to add to the accounts of the institutional landscape other heterogeneous, daily, local, and small-scale voices whose diffusion has been overshadowed by the great heritage discourses.
