dc.description.abstract | Las infecciones en pacientes con ventriculostomías son complicaciones frecuentes y severas que a la fecha han sido pobremente caracterizadas en el medio local. El presente es un estudio descriptivo transversal multicéntrico con componente analítico, con el objetivo de establecer la prevalencia de infección en estos dispositivos médicos y su mortalidad en tres centros de cuidado neuroquirúrgico en la capital colombiana. También busca establecer mediante razón de prevalencias si existe una mayor proporción de pacientes que presentan esta complicación respecto al tipo de sistema de derivación empleado entre kit comercial y sonda nelaton, así como en aquellos casos donde coexiste o no hemorragia subaracnoidea. dc.description.abstract | Ventriculostomy-related infections are frequent and serious complications poorly described in the local media. This is a descriptive transversal multicentric study with an analytic component aiming to establish the infection prevalence in these medical devices and its mortality in three neurosurgical care centers in the Colombian capital city. Furthermore, this study works forward to determine the prevalence ratio of infections in commercial kit catheters versus nelaton probes, as well as in those cases with coexisting subarachnoid haemorrage. |
