The successful development of a mining project depends directly on the effectiveness of reserve estimates and mineral quality, which are generated from geological information. Therefore, the objective of this research was to evaluate the volumetric differences between the actual extraction of the Annex pit and the estimated reserves, using geostatistical methods applicable in coal seam mining. Initially, an exploratory data analysis of the regionalized variables, ash, sulphur and thickness, was carried out, where the type of spatial distribution of the values was defined based on histograms. The study was prepared using the academic license of the Isatis Neo Mining software acquired by the Faculty of Mines of the National University of Colombia. Then a structural analysis was carried out for the ash variable, which consists of the creation of an experimental variogram adjusted to a mathematical model where its dependence and continuity was interpreted. Subsequently, the estimation was carried out using traditional techniques such as the inverse of distance and geostatistical methods. Such as Kriging Ordinary Blocks (KOB) and the Sequential Gaussian (SSG) method. The values resulting from the estimates were compared with each other based on the validation of statistics and grade/tonnage curves, considering 16% ash as the cut-off value for the analysis of the information. Finally, the result was that the ordinary block Kriging method is the method that best fits the possible reality, validating the use of Geostatistical methods in high-impact mining projects for the country. |
