The teaching of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) has gained importance due to the high morbidity and mortality rates from cardiorespiratory arrest and the lack of trained individuals to act quickly. Literature suggests starting CPR education in children aged 4 to 12 years in schools, a well-received practice. Evaluating the effectiveness of these trainings is crucial to ensure the acquisition and retention of vital skills. This review aims to strengthen and optimize CPR teaching processes through effective evaluation. Objective: To describe the strategies used in evaluating CPR learning in children for managing cardiorespiratory arrest. Methodology: A scoping review was conducted to answer the question: What are the evaluative strategies used in CPR training for schoolchildren? A systematic methodology was used, including the PRISMA-ScR guide, to standardize the search and synthesis of information. Results: The review included 42 relevant articles published between 2013 and 2023, categorized into six strategies: pretest and post-test to assess teaching effectiveness; immediate and delayed post-test for knowledge retention; self-confidence questionnaires; ad hoc questionnaires; simulated scenarios with checklists; and simulators with software to evaluate high-quality CPR skills. Discussion: Various evaluative methods are highlighted, such as questionnaires, pre and post-tests, simulations, and advanced simulators. A lack of standardization in test content and long-term follow-up was identified as significant limitations. The review underscores the importance of using multiple evaluative strategies simultaneously to improve assessment and highlights the need to standardize tests considering economic and cultural contexts. Conclusions: This scoping review addresses the evaluative strategies in CPR training for schoolchildren. A total of 42 studies were reviewed, revealing diversity in evaluative strategies. The lack of standardization in measuring learning and feedback times are significant limitations. The need to standardize test content considering economic and cultural contexts is emphasized, with English as the predominant language in the research, followed by Portuguese and Spanish.
