Summary
The article raises the question about gender as shaper of subjectivity on the grounds of technological knowledge production. It makes emphasis in the constituent dynamics of the free software community in Colombia. The essay develops this local discussion from two angles. On one side it presents the theoretical background of gender as an analytical category in general and about the relation between gender, science and technology in particular. On the other, it gives account of the live experiences of some of the women that conform thus community and attempts to comprehend how their role, though marginal, contributes to enhance the political goals of the free software movement to democratize technological knowledge. This situated reflection is permanently pun in dialogue with the research about this topic in the global scale. Keywords
