Abstract. The author explores the philosophical foundations of hegelian thinking on State, taking in account the conceptual relation between Absolute, Spirit and Freedom. On this base, he rakes the movement of the concept of State and the sense of the argument on its status of “absolute”. He establishes conversations with that argument, taking Marx and Abensour as main speakers. He shows one of the diverse lines of the contemporary discussion on Hegel’s political philosophy, and suggests a non-metaphysical way of interpretation. Keywords
