The Structural Equation Modeling methodology is a relatively new multivariate statistical technique that combines both Multiple Line Regression and Factor Analysis. It allows the researcher not only to evaluate the very complex internal relationship of the dependency between the variables, but also to incorporate the effects of the measurement of the error on the structural coefficients at the same time. The importance of structural equation models in the most diverse areas of knowledge is highlighted, through the review of scientific articles. In particular, its applications have been extended to the area of Neuropsychology, with various models being proposed to explain cognitive domains, but despite these advances, there are several lines of research where the application of the theory of structural equations becomes relevant. In this thesis a theoretical formalization associated with the Structural Equations methodology is carried out based on the mathematical foundation of Factorial Analysis. These methodologies are applied to a set of real data from the “Corazones de Baependi” / “Baependi Hearts” Project (Processo Fapesp 2007 / 58150-7) of the Molecular Genetics and Cardiology Laboratory (Incor / USP). Among the objectives of this Project there are involved investigations that reference the cognitive functions that are of the mental capacities of a person which refers to memory, attention, language and some very important aspects as executive functions (Friedman and Miyake, 2017) that are the ones that will be the focus of the application of the current thesis.Palabras clave
