To achieve this objective, a literature review was carried out where 121 delay factors were identified and grouped into 9 categories. After a validation of the factors for the Colombian context, a survey was implemented among the professional members of the association of electrical and electronic engineers of the National University of Colombia. The affiliates determined the frequency of occurrence and severity of the mentioned factors. The participants’ perspective was analyzed using the relative importance index, with the idea of establishing a range with the most important factors of delays. Additionally, with the Spearman index was evaluated the level of concordance between the three groups surveyed. In this research, 97.8% of the participants reported that they have experienced delays in their construction projects, the most significant factors in these delays are aggressive or unrealistic scheduling of activities and delays caused by design problems.
