The journey that the Nest’s wefts project aims to be seeks to exhibit and verify an essential sense of home. From different experiences, and after having contact with textile traditions of different cultures, the nest concept is introduced, understanding it as a natural place for the purpose of inhabiting, in its vulnerable and ephemeral character that takes place within the wandering human life. By definition, a nest is an original place, a scene of birth and of rupture when left. Its roots are not material, but it is destined to be a memory, a woven-memory that teaches an offspring to build their own nests when the moment comes, in which providence itself decides the point at which each one must find , if not compose, your own refuge amid incessant journeys. This project was carried out in different locations inhabited by the artist in Cota, Cundinamarca; Ibagué, Tolima, and, through an academic exchange, with the University of Art and Design of Linz, in Austria (Kunstuniversität Linz). After a four-month exchange in 2021 and having inhabited various places under the circumstance of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the sample of this research seeks to unite the traditions and experiences that have passed through the artist's family and daily life, to the time he finds reflections of the nest idea in ancient textile practices of different cultures that converge in Linz. From the distant link that the artist's family life has with the Guane culture in Santander, famous for producing virtuous weavers, to the linen tradition that germinated in Upper Austria for centuries, the artist seeks to witness and record how textiles, as well as their languages and uses in home life, constitute a body of memory that supports the deepest needs to have and develop an intimacy, sheltered by knowledge, times and bodies consigned in each cloth.Descripción Física/Lógica/Digital
