The use of electronic commerce, in the economy in general and in the agricultural industry, has transformed the functioning of organizations and the lifestyle of consumers, contributing to business competitiveness, exponential corporate growth, access to potential markets, the reduction of transactional costs and the comparison of prices and qualities. However, the success of this technology is determined by efficient use by agricultural producers and adoption by consumers. Therefore, the objective of this thesis was to characterize the electronic commerce of the fruit and vegetable industry in the city of Bogotá and to analyze the factors associated with the use of digital channels for the acquisition of fresh agricultural goods. The characterization of electronic commerce in the fruit and vegetable industry was carried out through the Extended Internet Commerce Adoption Model (eMICA), characterizing the degree of maturity of digital commerce through three levels (promotion, provision, and processing). To determine the associated factors, a structural equation model was proposed in a sample of 175 consumers, to evaluate the intention and use of digital channels for the purchase of fresh agricultural products. It was found that fruit and vegetable organizations make extensive use of ICT and have a medium degree of maturity of electronic commerce. Likewise, it was concluded that the performance expectation, the effort expectation, the social influence, the hedonic motivation, the value of the price and the purchase habit significantly influenced the intention and the use of digital channels for the purchase of fresh agricultural products. |
