dc.description.abstract | The Covid-19 pandemic is a reflection of the consequences that infectious diseases can generate. Part of the response to these risks for public health includes the possibility of understanding and predicting the dynamics of infections and, on this basis, taking opportune decisions. Here is where mathematics applied to epidemiology stands out as a fundamental tool. One way of understanding the evolution of an epidemic is through the application of compartmental models, adjusted to the specific characteristics of each disease. These divide the population into various compartments, depending on their medical condition. Epidemiological models like SIQR can be adapted to predict the behavior of diseases as cholera, that, as evidenced by the most recent events in Syria and Haiti, can quickly progress from an outbreak to an epidemic difficult to control, if adequate control measures are not taken. In consideration of the above, this work studies and analyzes a deterministic SIQR model for cholera transmission. In addition, numerical simulation using Python programming language is performed to observe the dynamics of the disease from the evolution of different population groups over time. Sensitivity analysis to the basic reproductive number is developed, which allows the evaluation of control strategies. A web interface is also designed, using Streamlit library, which allows to evidence the response of the dynamics of the model, depending on the parameters. This will serve as an instrument for further studies. |
