Metafísica y teoría del significado en el Tractatus de Wittgenstein

Abstract

El propósito de la presente investigación es proponer una lectura en la cual se busque un rol significativo de la metafísica en el Tractatus en relación con la teoría del significado o de la representación. El primer capítulo se centra en analizar la metafísica atomista y el presupuesto ontológico de que hay una realidad constituida por estados de cosas, que a su vez, se componen de objetos simples. El segundo capítulo expone la teoría de la representación, respondiendo a la cuestión de cómo la proposición figura estados de cosas; pero al mismo tiempo pretende examinar por qué la forma de figuración no puede ser figurable de la manera como los estados de cosas son figurables. Por último, el tercer capítulo pretende ofrecer una interpretación acerca de las conclusiones del Tractatus sobre el carácter absurdo de sus proposiciones. A tal efecto, se expone el problema que se desprende de dichas conclusiones, lo que nos conduce a la conocida metáfora de la escalera, y en seguida se revisa las lecturas que se tienen frente a ellas: las lecturas sustantivas y resueltas. De esta manera, trataremos de aclarar el papel de la metafísica dentro del pensamiento temprano de Wittgenstein, proponiendo así una lectura alternativa en la que se pretende rescatar su valor. The purpose of the present research is to propose a reading in which a significant role of metaphysics in the Tractatus is sought, in relation to the theory of meaning or of representation. The first chapter focuses on tha analysis of the atomistic metaphysics and the ontological presupposition that there is a reality made up of states of affairs, which in turn are made up of simple objects. The second chapter aims at expounding the theory of representation, answering the question of how the proposition figures states of affairs; but at the same time, it aims at examining why the form of representation cannot be figured in the way that states of affairs are figurable. Finally, the third chapter aims at giving an interpretation on the conclusions of the Tractatus about the absurdity of its own propositions. To this end, the chapter sets out the problem that arises from these conclusions, which leads us to the well-known metaphor of the ladder, and then examines the readings that we have of them: the substantive and resolute readings. In this way, we will try to clarify the role of metaphysics in the early Wittgenstein´s thought, and thus propose an alternative reading which aims at rescuing its value.
