Colombia is going through a worrying situation regarding financial literacy, which was exposed on the international stage when it presented the PISA tests and ranked last in this item. For this reason, the OECD, MEN, and other entities suggested incorporating a program of economic and financial education in schools, which would allow children and young people to acquire or reinforce basic knowledge in finance. According to the research carried out, it was found that most of the Colombian population is not financially literate, and this includes teachers, who are proposed by these organizations and entities as active agents for the change they want to see in society. Therefore, one of the conclusions that are drawn is that it is optimal to link financial literacy to mathematical education, given that the main weaknesses are related to a lack of articulation between the two fields of knowledge. However, it is clear that this is beneficial only if the math teacher has the necessary knowledge to teach and address these concepts in the classroom.Palabras clave
