Poverty is a global problem that requires specific solutions for each country. However, to support the initiatives aimed at eradicating it, a union of efforts is needed, as it is a situation that threatens social and economic development. In accordance with the objective of eradicating poverty, proposed in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the public policy for the development of the agricultural and agro-industrial sector of the Department of Caldas 2014-2035, presents the territorial development strategy "Origen Caldas" as a guideline to promote agriculture through business development. However, it has been materializing empirically. For this reason, it is proposed to carry out an investigation whose objective is to analyze how this strategy should be articulated with the businesses attached to it and that are owned by a population in a condition of economic vulnerability, also recognized as the Base of the Pyramid (BdP) According to the state-of-the-art approach and the antecedents of the problematic situation of the doctoral thesis project, two particular situations that motivate the research are exposed. First, the theoretical need to work in the field of the cultural valorization strategy, to detail and value the elements that make it up. Second, make contributions to determine the components that should contain a social business model owned by the BdP for the deployment of this strategy. This in order to strengthen these businesses, in accordance with its realities, and contribute to its sustainability over time. The research problem is approached from a pragmatic approach that combines the quantitative and qualitative methodology, with a greater predominance of this last. The case study method is used, favoring the exploration, description, and explanation of the relationships between the Issues. As a result of this research, a theoretical model is proposed based on analytical generalization, which contributes to the theoretical construction of the mechanisms behind the business models owned by the BdP. It is concluded that the cultural valorization strategy “Origen Caldas” should be seen as a practice, that is, as a pattern of behavior within which the business model changes over a period of time.eng
